Our Website Is Now Secured

mOrsoft website is now secure

We have waited and analysed our website performance before migrating our website to a secure web server.

In the past this can impact your website performance as your website needs to be decoded at the clients computer.

However as technology advances, smartphones and computers are becoming ever more powerful. The slight drop in performance, more than makes up for your secure website browsing on public internet connections ie free WiFi.

From an SEO perspective, Google considers site security to be a ranking signal and will favour websites with HTTPS. Although it is currently only a ‘lightweight’ ranking signal and will therefore only affect a very small number of search queries, we expect this to evolve.

All our new websites can offer this new facility upon request as part of our quotation.

How Artificial Intelligence is Changing SEO

how voice search is affecting seo

Regardless of what you want to call them – voice assistants, voice services, voice UIs, one thing is clear: the artificial intelligence behind voice technology is already advanced enough to make it the most efficient way to perform many common tasks.

Users don’t talk the way they type

When using a voice service, we tend to be aware that we’re talking to an artificially intelligent machine – so we don’t necessarily say, ‘Alexa, what’s your favourite website design company?’ but rather, ‘Alexa, find me a good website design company in Southend’ or ‘Alexa, where find me a website design company?’

These search terms are Long-tail keywords as opposed to search terms you might type i.e. web design southend.

A long-tail keyword is a keyword phrase that contains at least three words.

Long-tail keywords are used to target niche demographics rather than mass audiences. In other words, they’re more specific and often less competitive than generic keyword terms. Because of that, they provide both short-term and long-term benefits.

Since they’re very specific, they allow you to rank highly in search results for popular topics relatively quickly while still gaining ground on head terms. Plus, they tend to attract highly qualified traffic that’s more likely to convert to leads and customers.

Long-tail keywords now account for 70% of all web searches. These searches will only increase as more and more people use voice searches.

All Our Websites Are Now Mobile-first Indexed

Mobile-first Indexed

Google are now migrating sites that follow the best practices for mobile-first indexing.

Google’s crawling, indexing, and ranking systems have typically used the desktop version of a page’s content, which may cause issues for mobile searchers when that version is vastly different from the mobile version. Mobile-first indexing means that they will use the mobile version of the page for indexing and ranking, to better help primarily mobile users find what they’re looking for.

This policy reflects that a majority of website searches and views are now done on smart phones.

Google are notifying sites that are migrating to mobile-first indexing via Search Console. Site owners will see significantly increased crawl rate from the Smartphone Googlebot. Additionally, Google will show the mobile version of pages in Search results and Google cached pages.

They have confirmed that all websites currently maintained by mOrsoft are now mobile-first indexed.

There are some technical methods that you can apply to your website , such as ensuring it is responsive, to increase your website ranking. However unique content which is updated regularly can help enormously.

New Website – Our Most Asked Question

When we are designing a new website our most asked question is:

Can you get our new site on page 1 of Google and how long will it take?

Our answer to this question is obviously, “It depends,” because there are just too many variables to consider: website strength, competition, budget etc.

But in answer to how long it will take, we looked at a report made by Ahrefs.

how long to rank on google

This report took a number of factors into consideration:

  1. How old are the top-ranking pages?

From their report the average Top 10 ranking page is 2+ years old and those that rank at position #1 are almost 3 years old (on average). In fact, only 22% of pages that currently rank in the Top 10 were created within 1 year.

  2. How long does it take for a page to rank in Google?

Only 5.7% of all studied pages ranked in the Top 10 search results within 1 year for at least 1 keyword.

Clearly, you can rank for low-volume keywords in a very short time, while the high-volume ones take almost a year to get into the Top 10.

But again, don’t forget that this data only applies to 5.7% of “lucky” pages that ranked in the Top 10 within a year. The vast majority of pages don’t perform that well.

What does this all mean?

Did the study give a definite answer to “how long does it take to rank” question?

No.

But at least it’s shown that almost 95% of newly published pages don’t get to the Top 10 within a year.

And most of the “lucky” ones, which do manage to get there, do it in about 2–6 months.

We at mOrsoft will endeavour to get your new website as high as possible on Google search using all our skills gained using SEO.
